Field Settings

IndyGo focuses on simple transactions and updating equipment locations, but IndyGo-style events do offer up to nine fields you can display within an action.

The three non-editable fields available for display are:

  • Employee
  • Date
  • Time

The remaining six fields are editable in the mobile application:

  • Department
  • Location
  • Sub-Location
  • Comments
  • Location (From)
  • Location (To)

If a field is exposed in the mobile action, the user must select a value before completing the transaction (with the exception of Comments).

Fields and columns

Information

The field name of all the information specified during an event.

Visible

Check Visible next to the appropriate field name to make a field appear on an event. If you check a field as visible, set its order (described below).

Prompt

Not used in IndyGo events.

Order

Determines the display order of event fields. You'll be warned when saving the equipment if you accidentally duplicate an order number.

Label

Use the Label column when you want a custom field label, different from the label in the Information column.

Store With Equip

Has three choices: Always, Never, Only If Data Exists. These control if and when event data is copied to the gage as Status Information.

  • Always — copies the event data into the equipment field even if the field is blank.
  • Never — leaves the equipment's status information as is.
  • Only If Data Exists — copies information to the equipment's status fields only when the event field contains data.

Store In

Each gage can have two types of current status fields stored with it. Almost all event information can be stored with the equipment after an event completes, making it easy to filter equipment by current and in-transit statuses.

The two status types are:

  • Current Status info
  • Transit Status info

For a 1-step transaction (one event), use Current Status info to store information about the gage. For example, a Check-Out of a piece of equipment to the shop floor — the equipment's status is now "Checked-Out" and the event records who checked it out.

For a 2-step transaction (two events), use In Transit info for the first event and Current Status info for the second event. Example: Transfer to Lab / Receive at Lab. During the initial Transfer to Lab, move relevant event-info data into the equipment's In Transit status because the equipment is going to the lab but hasn't arrived yet. Only when the lab receives the equipment does the event data become Current Status info.

If you want some information stored in both statuses, choose Both.

Defaults

Use the Defaults column to specify default values for event fields. To move the equipment's default department field into the event's department field, enter !DEPARTMENT in the Defaults column.

tip

If you're using defaults in IndyGo, set Choose Equipment as the first step in the action — defaults only populate after equipment is added.

KIOSK_LOCATION can be entered into either Location (From) or Location (To) to automatically populate the mobile device or kiosk's Device Location by default. This is useful at a kiosk for a Check-In event using Location (To), or a Check-Out event using Location (From).

The fields don't need to be visible in the interface for the default to apply. Only Location Tree locations flagged as Is Storage at the location level will be defaulted to. If you plan on using a Kiosk-type default location that isn't marked as storage, then Location (To) does need to be exposed in the app — although it won't default a value, it limits selection to Is Storage locations underneath that Kiosk location.

Update Gage Field

Specifies equipment fields to populate with event information once the event completes. To move the event's department field into the equipment's department field, enter !DEPARTMENT in the Update Gage Field column.

Location (To) and Location (From) fields can only truly work with their designated Storage ID, Current Location ID, and Transit Location ID fields. These can be set in either the Update column or the Store In column for current- and transit-style fields.
