Settings

The Settings screen lets the user manage local settings at the device level. Settings are organized into four groups: Hardware and Devices, Configuration Options, Login Options, and General.

Manage Device Connection

Use this option to troubleshoot a connected device, connect to alternate devices, or forget the current device.

  • Refresh current connection — Use if you can't connect to your desired device. Make sure the device is powered on and in range, then refresh the connection.
  • Pair with a new device — Lets you select a supported device to connect to. Automatically forgets any current device.
  • Forget Device — Removes any connected device from the local cache and lets the app run without native barcode or RFID reading.

Hardware and Devices

RFID Options

Only appears if the supported device has RFID (UHF) scanning capabilities. From here, the user can test high vs. low power settings on tags without associating them with the main system.

  • Low power — adjustable in the IndyGo application. Used by default when pairing equipment, and is an option in the equipment-selection screen for IndyGo events. Like the high-power scan, it runs as long as the trigger is held. Use it when you want to be certain of the tag you're directly scanning. The higher the power, the greater the chance you'll pick up a tag that isn't right in front of the reader.

The maximum low-power value is 27. Every 3 units below 30 cuts the power roughly in half (so 27 is half of full power, which is 30). The default is 15 — about 1/32nd of full power.

  • High power — fixed at maximum (30); cannot be adjusted. Used by the Search screen and the Locate option by default, and can be used in the equipment-selection screen for IndyGo events. In this mode, holding the trigger continues scanning the area at maximum power.

BLE Tag Options

If enabled, lets the user pair assets with BLE tags, search for related assets from the Search screen, and search for related tags in actions.

Enable Camera Options

If disabled, hides camera-based options. The end user can't take pictures of assets (also a security setting in the main system) and can't use the camera to scan QR codes.

Kiosk Mode

Disabled by default. When enabled, Kiosk Mode is intended for stationary workstations and changes which options are available, compared to a mobile setup:

  • Allows screen rotation
  • Shows kiosk-specific events (configured in the main client's Workflow Configuration)
  • Locate-type features are hidden
  • Camera options are hidden
  • After every action, the user is prompted to either start another transaction or log out
  • If the user walks away and doesn't respond, they're automatically logged out after 30 seconds
  • After 45 seconds of screen inactivity, the workstation prompts to confirm the user is still there. If no response within 15 seconds, auto-logout occurs.

Kiosk Mode can only be enabled by system administrators logged in at that workstation. When a workstation is in Kiosk Mode, only the General section of the Settings screen is visible.

Configuration Options

  • Auto Sort by Due Date — disabled by default. When enabled, all assets added to actions are automatically sorted by due date, earliest first. When disabled, assets appear in the order they're added. Recommended for RFID inventory-type events that update locations and collect past-due or coming-due assets.
  • Vary Sounds by Due Date — plays distinct sounds when adding equipment to actions, based on the Schedule Alert Days setting. A coming-due or past-due item plays a distinct chime. Particularly useful when adding assets to an action via RFID scan.
  • Show Company Name — enabled by default. Lets the user see the company name for equipment in the Search screen and when adding or searching for equipment in Actions.
  • Hide Search Screen — only shows the Actions and Settings screens.
  • Device Location — recommended for kiosk-style situations but usable elsewhere. Assigns a specific location to the scanner or workstation. Only system-wide locations of type Kiosk can be selected. If an IndyGo event has a default value for Location (From) or Location (To) that exactly matches KIOSK_LOCATION, the IndyGo event in the mobile app uses the device's default location. The default location only populates after the first piece of equipment is added.

Login Options

  • Hide Username and Password Login — hides the username/password fields on the login screen.
  • Enable Camera Scan-In — lets the user scan a QR code with the device's native camera to log in. The scanned value is the Passive RFID ID for the employee record, not the password.
  • Enable Connection Edit — when disabled, the user can't edit the connection setting from the login screen.
  • Common User Login — lets an administrator save an encrypted username and password locally. Useful for employees whose records have a Passive RFID ID but no dedicated username and password. Requires a scan-in step that pushes the related employee's Passive RFID ID to the login screen for authentication. Users authenticated this way have access to actions and equipment based on the common user's settings.
  • Enable Guest Mode Login — used together with Common User Login. Adds a Log In as Guest option on that station's login screen. Guests authenticate with the common user's credentials but in a restricted mode: they can look up equipment information from the Search screen, but cannot perform any action that writes to the database. Pairing/unpairing assets, taking pictures of equipment, and performing actions are all disabled for guests.

General

  • Send Feedback — emails IndySoft support, if the device is configured to allow email.
  • Privacy Policy
  • App Version
  • Deregister Devices — system administrators can remove registration from a device.
